I've mentioned my site before but I recently made the decision to strip out the Flash and replace it all with HTML5.
It still uses SSP but relies on the API to pull information from my Director install. Overall it looks and acts pretty much the same as my old Flash based site but seems to work faster and smoother now.
Grateful for your comments/thoughts.

I like it but slideshow(s) takes AGE to initiate... any chance you can speed it up?
I am on OS X 10.5.8 and latest Safari, Firefox and Chrome

Interesting. Might be because its loading some pretty big images. I'll reduce the sizes and see if that helps.
However although I've got a reasonably fast connection at home, I've tested it at work and also at a friends place who has a very slow net connection and it still loaded relatively quickly. So perhaps its a Mac quirk.
UPDATE: Okay I've reduced the quality of the thumbnails and medium (non-full screen) images and reduced the overall size of the full screen images by about a third. See if that improves the load times.

I think it's even worse then before...
It takes forever for the first image to appear :s (after that slideshow works fine)
Perhaps slideshow is waiting for thumbnails to generate first before displaying the first photo!?!?!
I don't know - but as it is, quite frankly, I prefer Flash alternative.

Meh - might be a Mac thing. As mentioned earlier I've tested on most other systems (Windows and Linux) with most browsers (IE6 up, Firefox, Chrome) and I'm not seeing the delays you talk about. Its certainly faster than the Flash version
