SSP for LR and HTML5 Player

Hello

Are we going to see the HTML5 player directly embeeded in slideshows produced with SSP for LR without having to use SSP director ?

I have not the use for director, but HTML5 is a need as many of my viewers use ipads!

thanks

Alexis

Re: SSP for LR and HTML5 Player

I was wondering the same. I've choosen SSP a year ago to show my portfolio as I found it one of the nicest galleries and I wanted to publish it directly from lightroom.
Now with the iPad, I want to get rid of the flash on my site and are rebuilding it with another gallery as well as SSP is in flash. However, when a html 5 version will be made, I could stick to ssp.

Re: SSP for LR and HTML5 Player

I want to add my voice to this HTML5 request. Adobe announced their CS5.5 Suite with HTML5 being a big feature, and since iPhones & iPads are so popular, their support is becoming more of a priority.
I use SSP for Lightroom all the time, but can't show my portfolio on my iPad and it is very frustrating.

Thanks,
Maurice

PS,
Here is a sample gallery that I would have show to my customer with my iPad if it were available:

Re: SSP for LR and HTML5 Player

I would like to add my voice to the requests for an HTML5 player for SSP lightroom.  I may have to move away from SSP for my galleries as I'm potentially losing a lot of customers who access my site from ipads and iphones.  Being a wedding photographer, this visual element is pretty critical to my success!

Re: SSP for LR and HTML5 Player

Adobe dropping mobile flash future development.  Even more reason to get something sorted on the lightroom/HTML5 player front.

I'm actually really quite disappointed at the lack of comment or action from SSP on this point as in my eyes it's pretty major!

Re: SSP for LR and HTML5 Player

Looks like HML5 has become a banned word on this site/product. (sorry!)

Is there any work being done towards an html 5 lightroom plugin?

that is all.

thx.

Re: SSP for LR and HTML5 Player

Hi,

Can you please tell us a few words about SlideShowPro and HTML5? We all deserve an asnwer to our questions and so far it's a total blackout!

The fact is, the Flash-based version will never exists for Apple mobile devices, and it might disappear one day or another on Android since Adobe has announced dropping future development of Flash for mobile devices.

SlideShowPro is one of the very best gallery that exists around, I love it, BUT the web is moving towards HTML5, whether we/you like it or not. That's a fact. And you can for example already export Flickr galleries from Lightroom that are visible on any mobile device.

Therefore, we need to know where we go and understand your position on the subject: are you going to port the SlideShowPro player to HTML5? If you do, do you have any roadmap?

Regards,

To add an extra question, are you intending to wait for the automated Flash to HTML5 converters to improve and support AS3? There are several around but none support AS3 as of today to my knowledge (Google Swiffy is one of the promising ones).

Thanks,

Re: SSP for LR and HTML5 Player

There has been a discussion in other posts.  I haven't commented because I don't have anything else to say; sorry about that.

We provide an HTML5 slideshow (which looks and acts nothing like our Flash-based slideshow) through the use of our Director product.  We feel this gives slideshow viewers the best of both worlds (mobile viewers see HTML5, desktop viewers see Flash).

For now, that's all I can offer.  I certainly can't say that we'll never integrate HTML5 into SSP/LR.

I made the quoted post about 2 years ago already... In the meanwhile I've been using other slideshow containers for my site, as I certainly didn't want a flash player anymore. In the past year, Adobe announced that they stops developing flash for mobile devices, so it's a dead end for al mobile devices already.

I did came back to slideshowpro today, wondering if there would be another player already. I still found it one of the nicest slideshows I've ever seen, and would like to embed it in my site again. But as a photographer using Lightroom, I want my publishing workflow as easy as possible, and do not want to go to director after I've plublished my LR collection.. Which would cost me another 60,- as well. Basically, I'm a bit disappointed that there is still no better alternative for the LR workflow

Re: SSP for LR and HTML5 Player

I am frustrated with the lack of response from you folks. I have had many positive responses from my customers with Slideshow Pro used with LightRoom, but since so many of my customers are using tablets and cell phones to look at these sites and have no flash support, I am on the verge of going with JuiceBox which DOES have support for LightRoom and might not have the flexibility of Slideshow Pro but is a solution that exists TODAY. I am very sorry that this seems to be a low priority item.
BTW, www.juicebox.net is the website.

I try to show product loyalty, especially when the people creating the product show a good vision, but it seems like you guys are dropping the ball. :-(

Re: SSP for LR and HTML5 Player

Thanks for the tip about juicebox, I have just switched over to it from SlideShowPro, works really well and easy to set up!  You can see it in action on my site here: http://freerangephotographic.com

Such a shame that SSP couldn't get their act together over this. I couldn't wait any longer, it was costing me money as I could see on my stats how many people were accessing the site on iphone/ipad, knowing that they would not be going any further as the site wouldn't work for them.

Farewell SSP...

Re: SSP for LR and HTML5 Player

I was also checking in to see to SSP have come to their senses and realized that Flash is as dead as a doornail. I would love to see SSP migrate to a pure HTML5 slideshow product, working in Wordpress as well as Dreamweaver sites.

I recently paid $99 to Juicebox.net and that is money SSP would have gotten if they had their s#!t together by now.

I have one licence to Director, but I just need an easy to use slidehow software so I can make quick slideshows for art exhibits etc. The old Flash plugin was great, but it's time to move on.
