A client reported that their director is not longer showing up on the home page of the site: http://jackofalltradesbygeorge.com/ so I tried to log into the Control Panel to see what was going on and all I see is a 0 on the page: http://jackofalltradesbygeorge.com/slid … /index.php
I checked the database and all the data is there as well as all the files and folders on the server. I sent an email to support last Friday and have not heard anything back. Needless to say my client is getting pretty anxious so I would really appreciate some help on getting this working as soon as possible.
Thank you.

AHA - I have the same symptoms as you describe. I just noticed the problem a few minutes ago (didn't see your post and created a new topic).
Out of curiosity, who is your site host?
Offline
This site happens to be hosted on Powweb.

Same here. I just posted another message that all of my sites on Powweb are failing slideshowpro slides. I am posting a message to Powweb support!
Offline
Wow small world. I wonder if it is a PHP thing. Please let me know what you find out. Thanks! I'll let you know if I find out anything as well.
Offline
I posted a support question but decided to start a live-chat, running right now. The tech just "put me on hold for 3-4 minutes" to go talk to someone. It seems to be a Powweb thing but could be an update to PHP or javascript support/engine that SSP can't handle. Either way, I have a feeling they are going to tell me SSP needs to fix their code!

As I figured, this issue is beyond the first-level support. He said "I'm sorry, in order to assist you, I am going to have to ask a member of our team who specializes in this issue to take care of this for you. I have escalated your issue and the reference ticket #9696535 . You should be hearing from this specialist within 2-4 hours."
Unfortunately, it is 9pm my time (EST/DST - what time zone are you in?) so I will not be able to check for an answer until tomorrow morning. I also told him to include your site as having the same problem and same common denominator - slideshowpro.net director.

My BIG concern right now is, if Powweb does say it is a problem with SSP and some update they did not being compatible, where do I go from here? I have not seen any responses from SSP folks on this issue and frankly, I don't have an solution on where to go if the problem resolution is dropped on SSP's shoulders.

I am in the same boat. I can switch service providers. There are plenty of them around, but the total lack of response from SSP is the most worrisome. I created a support ticket last Friday and another one today and haven't heard anything from them. I have never been ignored like this before.

I too have noticed the lack of support/response from SSP, which is why I am moving all my sites to WordPress. I found a fantastic product called Ultimatum (http://ultimatum.wonderfoundry.com/). It is a fairly new product but their support/response is crazy-fast considering the author is in Turkey. I tried another WP product/framework and even when I paid for "support", I got 1-response in 2-weeks. Another slideshow program I purchased (SlideDeck) is very powerful but none of these has the content management that SSP has [heavy sigh]. I don't know if there are any WP based image/slide/video content management products out there. I haven't looked that much.
I will pass on whatever Powweb responds with, tomorrow.

Thank you. I appreciate the human element. I too will let you know if I find out anything.

I too have lost my files or something. I host on powweb and can't log on to my slide show files. Any advice would be helpful. www.janetlitton.com

Unfortunately, the response from Powweb is what I expected - it is an SSP issue. Here is what they said:
Hello,
Thank you for contacting Support
We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. I have checked your issue and I have found that the issue is causing due to the scripts. Hence, I suggest you to contact your webmaster to fix it.
If you have any further questions, please update the Support Console.

FWIW, I opened up 2-tickets with Powweb since I maintain multiple sites (see previous reply). So, I responded back to them saying:
Thank you for the response. However, it is not as simple as that.
The product in question, SlideShowPro.net Director, has not changed since 03/12/2012 and was working up until 06/11/2012. It also continues to work on hundreds if not thousands of other sites on non-Powweb webhost providers. It stopped working on Powweb websites (I personally know of at least 5-other website, all on Powweb, that now have the same issue). So, it is safe to conclude that something was changed by Powweb to cause this product to fail.

Here is their latest response:
Hello,
Thank you for your patience.
We sincerely apologize for the confusion created by the path changes in storage devices. We have implemented the new upgraded storage devices on our platform which had resulted in the changes in script generated paths. The paths which were auto detected by any PHP scripts will be in the format : /hermes/web06/b1186/ or /hermes/waloraweb019/b726 (Later path displays the changes made in storage devices) and it is not advisable to use this script generated paths in your PHP scripts. We may make periodic changes in our storage devices for better performance and efficiency which will result in changes of these script generated paths.
It is always better to use the '/home' path provided in the control panel in your hosting account in PHP scripts. The advised document root path for your PHP scripts is: /home/users/web/b726/pow.andresofrichmond/htdocs and /home/users/web/b942/pow.scbcweb/htdocs which can be found in your control panel.
If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to reply through Support Console. We are available 24x7.
Sincerely,

So, the question to SSP folks is how do I fix this?
Offline
Just received the latest response and it is kinda what I expected. It is a SSP/CakePHP (used by SSP) issue and they said to go back to the vendor. They said:
Noticed you have installed CakePHP application for it and Its a application related issue. Please contact CakePHP support for further issue.
---My Response:
As for the CakePHP issue, while I understand what you are saying, my issue is this very same product works fine on other webhost/service providers and has been working flawlessly on Powweb (many years) until Monday. So what has changed? Things don't just break by themselves. Especially when it effects numerous folks and the common denominator is something on/in Powweb changed recently.
Offline
Final word from Powweb - paraphrasing "eventhough we might have done something to break it, we aren't responsible for it nor will we troubleshoot it" -
SlideShowPro - it is your call/problem. I guess I am looking for another slideshow program, at least until I move completely to WordPress.
As your host, we are only responsible for hosting your files on our platform and providing the proper hosting environment. We do not provide support for third party applications that can be installed through the SimpleScripts, until and unless it is a server sided. You will have to go through the Support forums, Knowledgebases, Help desks for the respective application. You have full control over to the application files/folders, and phpMyAdmin access to the databases which used by the application.
However issue reported might be due to the module or the plugin enable for the website http://www.andresdayspa.com/slideshowpro/ . Please disable all the modules/plugins and check it from your end.
If you have any further questions, please update the Support Console.

I'm having the same issue. My hosting is with FatCow.
When I try to log in to the SSP Director page, I just get a website that says "0" http://www.headshotswest.com/slideshowpro
It definitely seems to be a database issue, as one of our other sites, hosted through GoDaddy is having no issue.
Has anyone who is having this issue received tech support from SSP or resolved it in any way? If so, how did you resolve it?
Offline
Hope this will help anyone else, but we just upgraded to the lastest SSP Director and it fixed everything. Not sure why we didn't try that earlier.
Offline
I have IPower as my host, and I too get the "0" when I try to log in. I am "upgrading" to the latest version, though I had thought I had already done that. So, we shall see what happens...
Offline
I downloaded the latest update, followed the instructions, uploaded the files, and it's now working just fine. Not sure what happened... but glad it's OK.
Offline
Download the latest upgrade update from Slideshowpro.net.
Delete app folder from server (my clients server is also Powweb)
Upload new app folder to server from update folder.
One must delete the app folder rather than replace it or overwrite it. I tried to upgrade with overwrite and when it didn't work I moved on to the next try at a fix. Took me forever to come back around to try again my first thought of upgrading the app folder.
Offline
Well, I followed the suggestions about completely replacing the /app directory. While I no longer get the "0" and SSP control panel seems to be functional, none of my images will appear. All albums/galleries just show "loading". I have tried clearing all caches.
How can I completely reinstall SSP without loosing any of the images/albums/galleries/etc?
There is no "update" since I am at the latest, since March 2012, the last published update.
Where are the SSP folks in all this? No responses whatsoever.......
