Hey Guys,
I've got Director running locally. All my galleries are sorted and ready to go, displaying properly. Do I have to install Director (database and all) on my webserver then? Can't I just copy the image directories, necessary PHP files, and XML over to the webserver and be done with it? I've tried this and it's not working however.
For me, it's quicker to upload/test everything locally, then move it to the web server. How does everyone else do it? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks much.

Director is really designed to reside on a web server, that way changes can be made instantly, and you don't have to go through this dance all the time of uploading/updating locally to the web.

So if I have everything working locally, and it's not working live now, what should I look for? Director doesn't really need the DB setup at that point does it? If I have all the images and everything copied over ..

I'm not really sure, again this isn't really the supported setup.
Send me a link to what you have online that is not working, and I will take a look.

So I've it setup correctly on the webserver. How can I copy my images and XML over from my local environment to my webserver, so I can at least be up to date before doing everything from here on out on the webserver end?

You would need to do 2 things:
1) Transfer the contents of the albums folder on your local setup to the web server setup.
2) Do an export of your MySQL database that holds the director data locally, then import that into your online MySQL server. Check the MySQL docs for more info on this...

Good, that's what I thought. Just wanted to make sure I didn't need to copy over any of those cache files.
Thanks.
