What's with the extreme caching??

I can't figure out the rhyme or reason behind slideshow's caching. I uplaod a new version of a thumbnail, and sometimes it takes like 10 minutes of browser refreshing (CONTROL-F5, not just F5, which causes a hard and total refresh) and also exiting/restrating before it will finally show the new image.  I have caching set to none in the parm file.

Am I missing some trick here?? THanks

Re: What's with the extreme caching??

Sorry for the belated reply.

It has nothing to do with SlideShowPro or anything like that. It's the browser. Some browsers are more aggressive with their caching than others. IE on Windows is especially aggressive and has to be forced into clearing its cache, often times.

And you're telling us there's nothing to do to overcome this problem ?

I needed to have our users to add pictures to the slideshow by uploading pictures to our server.

I have a dynamic XML like this:

Code:

xmlFilePath:"getImageXML.php?recetteNo=<?php=$recette['no']?>&a=<?php=mktime()?>"

to get the images and even that won't refresh the slideshow.

If I load the xml in the browser it's updated...

I coded the XHTML page to request not to be cached, no better beaviour.

The only constant way of having the slideshow refreshed is to close the browser (!).

I'm out of ideas now.  Maybe the solution is to stop using swf then ?

Re: What's with the extreme caching??

I agree with you. It is a pain in the button to get that cache reset.

Anything I ran into is that I want to replace certain images but I have a 100 in an album and would have to drag them around etc for placement. Instead I FTP'd them to the album directory. Clearing the browser cache does not help. Is there another cache? i.e. in the album directory? Or should I scrap this FTP and do it manually? which sucks....

By the way, the URL is http://www.awantedmag.com under Issue 5 Slideshow. The URL is probably not important at the moment.
